Quotables 8-1-10
Lord of the Rings (2001-03): I know it doesn't seem quotable but I have a knack for bringing it up in casual conversation... just today I used "We are sitting... on a field of victory" but I use pretty much everything from the trilogy

Juno (2007): "God banana shut your freaking gob!"... and many more
Pirates of the Caribbean (2003-11): Too many to name
Actors under 50 who will be Legends 8-8-10
Will Smith (42): While there are a few unlikeable movies in his filmography (Hancock, Shark Tale) he is still very enjoyable in them. Almost every movie he has been in is a hit and I don't see how anyone could disagree with his talent. Independence Day, Men in Black (yes the 2nd one was awful), Enemy of the State, Seven Pounds, I am Legend, I Robot, Hitch... ALL amazing... I haven't seen Pursuit of Happyness, Bad Boys, Wild Wild West or Ali... but I have heard nothing but great things
Ellen Page (23): A great actress... she is in a bunch of indie or underground movies (Hard Candy, Peacock, Tracey Fragments) all of which she was great in, but she's branching out and is going to be huge very soon (Juno, Inception, Smart People, Whip It)
Johnny Depp (47): The only reason he is 3rd on my list is because I thought he was over 50! He can do anything.. shall I include every single movie he's ever made? Or do you want to just believe me

Monday's Movie Meme
My Collection 5-31-09
MOST VIEWED: Lord of the Rings Trilogy (mine)... it's the movie I turn on whenever I'm alone or just want something happening in the background
1408 (Jesse's)... I also watch this with him obviously.... one of the best horror movies to just turn on... always good
NEVER VIEWED: The Changeling... we bought this really cheap on impulse but we haven't been in the modd to watch it... there's also a bunch that his mom gave us but we don't trust her judgement after Last Kiss
GUILTY PLEASURE: The Cottage... great horror/comedy that no one has ever heard of... most people that have seen it hate the humor in it though...
Dance of the Dead... possibly the only good after dark horrorfest movie made...
MOST SHARED: Ghost Town... everyone can enjoy this and they do!
WHY DID WE BUY THIS?: Beetlejuice... Husband said it was great but it turns out the only good part of this movie was Beetlejuice and he's in shockingly little of the movie...
MOST TREASURED: Lord of the Rings... all 3 extended editions...
WILDCARD: Re-cycle... this is on here because we have a bunch of great gems that no one has ever heard of and this is a really ambiguous one... great Japanese horror

Falling Stars 04-05-09
Brenden Fraser: Although never a huge shining star... he was blessed with well-known and good roles (Blast from the Past.. some of those random teen kind of movies.. and then The Mummy) but he has since spiraled downward with the third Mummy.. Inkheart... Journey to the Center of the Earth... It seems he is still doing cheesy comedy kind of acting that was popular in the early 90's and it's just not working out anymore there, Brenden...
Adam Sandler: Arguably the king of comedy... starting his career with things like Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore (neither of which I was overly impressed with).. and moving on to even better things like Big Daddy, The Wedding Singer, Anger Management... but has now taken on some more serious roles... Click, Reign Over Me, Funny People... and they are just kind of getting worse as it goes on longer... unlike Brenden.. Adam is trying to act less immaturely like his earlier stuff... but that's not exactly working either.
Meg Ryan: For a while she was in tons of romantic comedies in which she was wonderful... Sleepless in Seattle, You've got Mail... Kate and Leopold... and since then she's just kind of fell off the map with some random things here and there...
Jim Carrey: His new stuff sucks...

Monday's Movie Meme
Older ones....
Regional Representation 09-13-09
I live in northern Wyoming so there's not a whole lot to choose from...
Dances With Wolves (1990)- Most of it was filmed in South Dakota but some was filmed around Jackson which is in southern Wyoming... the setting of the actual movie is around this area... obviously
Disorganized Crime (1989)- A fun comedy that was filmed in the town my parents lived in a couple years prior to the making of this movie... Hamilton, MT.
Did you Hear about the Morgans? (2009)- Ok this is the only other movie I've seen that has Wyoming as a main part... althought it was not FILMED there... it was filmed in New Mexico... which I'm sorry but Wyoming is much prettier than New Mexico. I HATED this movie because they make it look like everyone is a cowboy and drives a truck and WE DO NOT HAVE SOUTHERN ACCENTS.... this is the NORTHWEST... not the SOUTH... and not everybody has cows and loves guns... some of us like the computer and have jobs and play video games just like the rest of the world... and we don't have horse hookup things as well as parking spaces! and ... I'm sorry.. WY does not get much press... so when the press it does get is shit like that it makes me angry. Oh and bears don't just like walk up to houses and attack people.... I've lived here my whole life and I've never seen a bear...

The Spirit (2008)
It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
Documentaries I would Like to see Made 11-29-10
Walmart Bakery- I know it's obvious to make a documentary about the place you work... but this place would be interesting to watch from an objective point of view... there's even a lot of humor and stupidity!
Dreamscapes-- If I was not lazy I would love to study the psychology of dreams... it would be cool to see a documentary with imagery and everything about this subject
The Mystery of Cats- There may be already a documentary on this... but cats are very odd in a lot of ways and it would be interesting to see some of the history and lore behind them
Victory 11-22-09
Inglourious Basterds (2009)- I loved this movie because it was NOT historically accurate... we all know what happened in WWII... we don't need another retelling of the failures of the attempts on Hitler's life... well... this one succeeded which was unexpected and awesome.
Homeward Bound (1993)- Great movie... great pets... very touching victory of the coming home of household pets
LOTR (2001-03)- "For victory and the red dawn!" Chilling victory sequences... The Battle of Helm's deep when Gandalf arrives with the Rohirram... and the Ents overtaking Isengard... and then in the last one when all hope is lost and Frodo and Sam succeed in destroying the Ring! =D
Death Scenes 11-15-09
Lord of the Rings FOTR (2001)- Gandalf- Every bit of cinematic bliss merged perfectly (through this whole trilogy) but it made Gandalf's "death" amazingly devastating
Pirates of the Caribbean (2003)- Cpt. Barbosa- Awesome character and great fight between him and Jack Sparrow.. and then when the apple falls out of his hand!
My Girl (1991)- Thomas- This is only on here because it's the first movie I actually ever cried while watching... very sad when the little boy dies and the girl is devastated
The Cottage (2008)- David- WONDERFUL underground gem! All the deaths in this are memorable but the expressions in this particular one are what make it win out among other movies of its kind
Watchmen (2009)- Rorschach- He allows himself to be killed because he knows what's right and he can't live with just letting it happen... and then he leaves a Rorschach shaped bloodstain in the snow...
Life Changers 11-8-09
Lord of the Rings (2001-03) I know it's cliche... it may not have "changed" my life... I am still pretty young... but it is something that I will always remember... it has everything in it and as nerdy and possibly crazy as it is.. almost everything in my life can be mirrored by situations or quotes from this trilogy
Mobsters 11-1-09
Mickey Blue Eyes (1999)- Great comedy about the mob and Hugh Grant getting caught in the middle of everything
Boondock Saints (1999)- I'm pretty sure this counts... 2 irish brothers taking out members of the mob (and other bad guys)

School 09-27-09
Charlie Bartlett (2007)- Anton Yelchin stars as a rich kid who wants to be liked at his new school.. he achieves this by helping his fellow students through the most difficult years of their lives... along with a little perscription drug use. Robert Downey Jr. also costars as the principal and the object of Charlie's affection's father.
A Little Princess (1995)- Sarah goes to a girls school where she is well loved until it is found that her father has died at war and she is all alone (and pennyless) so the evil headmistress makes her a servent girl and she is shunned by the students for a while until they all realize it's not money that makes friends.
Clueless (1995)- Alicia Silverstone stars as Cher as she and her friends make their way through high school while doing "good deeds" for the "less fortunate" backfires.

Book Vs. Movie 2-28-10
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005): A great disappointment as they spent far too long showing him ride around on a broomstick with a dragon than in the hedge maze at the end. I understand they can't fit everything into a movie but they could have done better.
Lord of the Rings Trilogy (2001-03): Amazing. Saddened that certain things didn't make it into the films (Tom Bombadil.. the Barrow Wights) but it was a perfect trilogy.
The Lovely Bones (2009): Contrary to LOTR, Peter Jackson bombed this movie. Although the book was almost all a narrative, it would be hard to make an interesting movie from the book, which was proved. Not his fault
Twilight (2008): A very good book, a mediocre movie. The characters were cast very badly but the script did a good job
Popular Movies I Hated 2-21-10
Austin Powers (1997)
Jumper (2008)
Donnie Darko (2001)
Schindler's List (1993)
